year 12 study centre

What is the study centre?

  • The Study Centre is a dedicated space for Year 12 students only. All students are required to attend the Study Centre during their study sessions, but may also attend before and after school. Former students are employed as tutors throughout the day to provide guidance in specific subject areas.

Why have a year 12 study centre?

  • To maximize the academic progress of every Year 12 VCE student.

What do we value?

  • We value ambition, effort and perseverance, as these characteristics are the only reliable way to learn and improve.

what do we do in the study centre?

  • Teach students to use effective learning strategies
  • Provide a place for students to work independently
  • Provide one-on-one AND one-to-small group tutoring.

why are there different types of tables in the study centre?

  • The different sizes and styles of tables allow students to work in different ways. The corrals enable students to focus completely on their work, in silence. The group tables enable students to work on group projects or work with a tutor. There are different rules for each section of the room to make sure that students get the most out of the space.

what are the rules of the study centre?

  • Most importantly, we expect all students to respect the desire of other students to study. This is not a social space, but a productive one. Rather than listing all of the things that cannot be done in the centre, we expect students to exercise common sense about their behaviour. The Study Centre Coordinator is empowered to remove students from their chosen seats or remove them from the Centre entirely if they disrupt other students by their words or actions.

they just work hard,
then succeed on purpose."
